Matt Nelson
You know this is the beginning to a memoir. In 2013 feeling like I don't know what was next after getting out of the military. I struggled to find just 1 thing that made me open my eyes to a hobby or just something to dedicate my time to. I was completely clueless that my calling was sitting right in front of me. The answer was a four legged girl who started it all and woman who shows me empathy, kindness, and love everyday. That is why OceanRay Rescue is different. We have something no other rescue has and that's Tara Nelson. Pick up the phone or sit down with her for 10 minutes and you'll know what I'm talking about. What am I passionate about? What motivates me? It's my wife! It's dogs! It's my family! It's community! And It's God!

Stepping into the world of rescue came easy to me. Most people know me by way of my first dog Mattie. She's the one who started it all but let me expand. She's the one who shifted all of my interests to become dog related. Learning about behaviors, breed discrimination, animal abuse, which led to spreading awareness and my desire to get more involved. After meeting my husband Matt and us making decisions to bring in our first dog together, adding to our pack and agreeing to foster on our own all in the first year of our relationship. It became natural growth for us to envision the life of having our own rescue.
